While we often spend months perfecting the design of our kitchens and living rooms, the bedroom—the very place where our bodies perform vital repair work and immune resets—is frequently treated as an afterthought. Sleep scientists warn that this oversight is more than just a decor mistake; without the right mattress to support posture and pressure points, the body’s ability to recover from the day is fundamentally compromised.
SM Home and Uratex are now bridging the gap between home design and health by championing the “8-Hour Movement” for World Sleep Day 2026. By shifting the focus from just “buying a bed” to investing in a restorative sleep environment, they are reminding Filipinos that the secret to a productive day isn’t found in a coffee cup, but in the quality of the support underneath them.
For Uratex, the country’s leading mattress brand and a long-time champion of sleep wellness, that reality underscored why World Sleep Day carried even greater significance today.
This year, Uratex brought its advocacy directly to the public through the 8-Hour Movement Sleep Station, a month-long activation mounted in partnership with SM Home at the SM Store, SM Megamall, transforming the retail space into an interactive hub dedicated to sleep education, wellness, and better bedtime habits.
“Sleep is one of the most important foundations of health, yet it’s also one of the most overlooked,” said Ms. Vanelyn Destar, Sr. Brand Marketing Executive of Uratex. “Through the 8-Hour Movement, we hope to spark a national conversation about why sleep matters—and how small lifestyle changes, combined with the right sleep environment, can dramatically improve our quality of life.”
The collaboration with SM Home highlighted a shared vision of helping Filipino households design homes that nurture both comfortable living and truly restful sleep.

As one of the country’s most trusted home and lifestyle retailers, SM Home provided the perfect environment to connect Uratex’s sleep advocacy with consumers actively looking to improve their homes and daily routines.
“SM Home has always believed that a well-designed home supports a better life,” said Christopher Ang VP Marketing of SM HOME. “Partnering with Uratex for World Sleep Day allowed us to highlight an essential part of wellness that often gets overlooked—sleep. By bringing this activation to SM Megamall, we give shoppers a chance to learn, interact, and discover practical ways to improve their rest, together with a brand that has helped generations of Filipino families sleep better.”
The World Sleep Day Launch Event
The campaign officially launched on March 13, 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Lower Ground Floor of the SM Store, SM Megamall, with a special program that blended expert insights, interactive activities, and celebrity appearances.
The event was hosted by comedian/actor Betong Sumaya, with appearances from a lineup of special guests including celebrity influencer Bigboy Cheng, host Amy Perez, athlete Alyssa Valdez, and actress Bea Binene, alongside Sir Francis Gaw. The program also featured an expert talk by Dr. April Hernandez of the Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine, who discussed practical strategies for improving sleep habits and achieving healthier nightly routines.

Throughout the afternoon, guests participated in engaging segments designed to make sleep science both informative and fun.
Sleep Advocacy Meets Everyday Living
While the campaign celebrates World Sleep Day, its larger goal is to encourage lasting lifestyle changes.
For Uratex, the initiative reflects decades of commitment to sleep science and product innovation. “By working with partners like SM Home, we were able to bring this advocacy directly to where people live, shop, and build their homes.”
Beyond the launch event, the activation will continue throughout March, giving shoppers an opportunity to explore Uratex mattresses, learn about sleep hygiene, and take part in activities that reinforce the campaign’s central message: better sleep leads to better living.
