“Unimaginable,” Korina Sanchez-Roxas reacts to guest Lani Misalucha saying she might just stop singing altogether after her bout with meningitis, which is caused by a bacteria that causes the brain to swell, resulting in the loss of hearing in Lani’s one ear.
“Pareho kami ng asawa kong nagkasakit and pareho kaming bingi na ngayon sa isang tenga. Hindi ko naririnig nang maayos ang sarili ko at music. Sintunado na pala ako, di ko pa alam,” confesses the teary eyed singer who is called Asia’s Nightingale.
Lani Misalucha left the Philippines decades ago at the height of her career and migrated to Las Vegas. But the singer, who is extremely good, did not stop in aspiring for a bigger success as she chased her dreams in America.
Did you know:
That there is a Lani Misalucha Day in Las Vegas as proclaimed by the Mayor himself?
That Lani never dreamt of being a singer at all?
That there was a reason why Lani and her family had to suddenly leave the Philippines and move abroad?
That she just now wants to be a farmer and will not regret ending her career in singing?
“But you will hear for yourself that Lani just still brings the house down with that voice. Kung paano niya nagagawa yan kahit di na makarinig ang isa nyang tenga, well, that’s pure talent,” says Korina.
A lot of revelations, laughter, and tears — stories only now told plus a lot of singing — in this Sunday’s Korina Interviews airing at 5 pm on NET 25.
