Last November 30, one of the most recognized and sought-after bands in the wedding and event industry, 3rd Avenue dropped their newest single Diskarte in digital music stores worldwide. The band was formed originally when they were in college in 2004, but the current members started in 2016.
That was quite a long journey for a band to actually be launched officially for a single. They did mention that along the way, they had some songs and covers that were featured in local TV shows as the theme song but this is their biggest push for their band and personally, I think their song Diskarte is the perfect song to showcase their talent.
But do they think that this is the perfect time or right time for them to release Diskarte?
“Hindi namin masasabing it’s perfect but all we know is it’s about time that we release our music. Kasi we do a lot of weddings, we do a lot of events, and we have written songs for our couples, ‘yung mga couples na gusto nilang original songs ‘yung kanilang bridal march. So, we have been writing songs for other companies also, so sabi namin, it’s about time that we do our own songs naman. And ‘yung pandemic actually made it possible kasi nga, not so many gigs so we were able to concentrate on writing songs,” vocalist Paolo Ledesma shares.
“Nabanggit nga ni Paolo na sulat kami nang sulat sa ibang tao, tayo naman. Original songs naman this time. ‘Yun nga, it’s about time,” drummer Beng Gatmaitan continues.
“I think perfect timing siya in a way kasi ‘yung song kasi namin, in every generation, nangyari siya talaga. So parang feeling namin kahit ‘yung mga anak, apo namin, makaka-relate sila sa song,” vocalist Muriel dela Paz adds.
The composer and drummer of the eight-man outfit, Beng Gatmaitan shares his thoughts about his original composition, “I want this song to connect to the young. Make them feel that this song belongs to them because it talks about their deepest feelings when they fall in love. They are full of emotions, and affection”, Gatmaitan said.
“Diskarte” will pave the way for the group’s much anticipated full-length album entitled “Transverse” to be released during the second quarter of next year.
As their song hits the shops this week, Paolo and Beng with their fellow 3rd Avenue members Lester Cerda (saxophonist), Muriel Dela Paz (vocalist), Gino Madrid (guitarist), Migs Nuñez (musical arranger/keyboardist), Alchris Ramirez (vocalist), Joy Reyes (vocalist) will promote the track widely on TV, radio and online platforms.
