“Panalangin,” “When I Met You,” “Batang-Bata Ka Pa,” “Ewan,” “Paano,” these are just some of the music Apo Hiking Society made popular during the 80s to 90s. But what made their songs more compelling to be made into a musical are the messages and how they were written.
Rita Daniela and Marika Sasaki, two of the stars of the musical adaptation of the Apo Hiking Society songs titled “Eto Na! Musikal nAPO!” might not be aware of all the APO songs before but they were surprised that some of their favorites were composed and sung by the popular music group.
But aside from the music, what is Eto Na! Musikal nAPO! is all about? Watch their answer below:
Friendship, family, love and politics. These are the themes the musical will tackle. It will work its wonders that you’ll laugh and cry and just go with the flow of the story and the music.
The story will also address the band’s journey from 12 members down to three.
Eto na! Musikal nAPO! centers on seven friends who join a song-writing and singing contest for college students. Composing the perfect song and assigning who best to write and arrange it proves a challenge to the barkada, aside from the individual problems some members have with their girlfriends, love interests, parents and studies, and the current political turmoil of Martial Law.
Eto na! Musikal nAPO! is a musical comedy. It promises its audiences wholesome entertainment with twitches of rom-com and nostalgia, using the music of one of the country’s premiere singing groups, the APO HIKING SOCIETY.
