From Sabah to Quezon City: The Successful Launch of Chunk and Dunk’s First Global Branch

The wait is finally over as Sabah’s viral sensation, Chunk & Dunk, makes its historic international debut at Eastwood Mall in Quezon City. The grand opening felt more like a high-energy festival than a launch, with crowds eager to experience the legendary buttery crunch of Malaysia’s best-selling croffles. Far beyond the social media hype, the Philippine branch delivered on every promise, serving up that signature croissant-waffle fusion that has local foodies instantly hooked and lining up for seconds. This isn’t just a new snack in town—it’s the official arrival of a regional favorite, and one bite is all the proof you need.

Adam Shamil, Chunk and Dunk Founder and CEO and Malaysian content creator, greeted the audience on Easter Sunday, enthusiastically inviting everyone to try Chunk & Dunk.

“May this special day bring you guys a lot of joy, peace, and love. And second of all, I don’t wish to speak any further because today is not about me. It’s about celebrating Chunk and Dunk. But I just wanted to say something very, very important. Twenty-three months ago, I started Chunk and Dunk with my very own life savings with an intention to be able to make the world’s best croffle and to be able to change my family’s life. And 23 months later today, not only have we expanded to six outlets in Malaysia, and not only have we sold over one million croffles in Malaysia but we have also brought the world’s best here in the Philippines. And now it belongs to you.”

“So, I hope if you know fellow Filipinos or anybody who comes to the Philippines, don’t just think about your beef tapa, don’t just think about your sinigang, but make sure you get the crunchiest croffle and the finest shaved ice you have ever tasted.”

“So, thank you very much on behalf of the rest of the team. And I also would like to take this opportunity to say that I am incredibly proud of the whole team spearheaded by Lester, the international brand partner, his amazing wife Hazel.”

“You have no idea how much it means to me for a brand that I’m just starting here in the Philippines. It means a lot to me. Thank you so much for making my dreams come true. And I am so excited to announce that Chunk and Dunk is officially in the Philippines!”

Chunk & Dunk CEO and Founder Adam Shamill, Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, and Chunk & Dunk Philippines’ Lester Lim

The day was extra special as the Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency, Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, was present at the opening.

“First of all, happy Easter. This is amazing for you to be here during this very momentous occasion. I also like here to say that this is my first foray into the croffle industry. I was with them last night and I tasted the croffle for the first time and I was blown away.”

“Honestly speaking, I was blown away. I love sweets and when I had my first crunch of croffle, I was sold. I’m not saying this because it’s a brand from Malaysia. I’m a foodie. I’ve traveled many, many countries and I can say if you have a croffle today, you will never forget it and I want you to be coming back to get more. So, congratulations to you!”

“Malaysia and Philippines have very strong relations and part of it is actually interwoven in culture and food. Malaysians and Filipinos love eating. A good example is me. I love food and I’ve traveled across Philippines and Malaysia. I’m so happy today that Mr. Adam has brought a part of the Malaysian tradition to the Philippines.”

“I think what they have done today is not only create this connection between both countries, but at the same time also make the people of Philippines and Malaysia understand that through food, through culture, we can be a strong and society that binds together.”

Chunk & Dunk CEO and Founder Adam Shamill, Chunk & Dunk Philippines’ ambassador Chevy Lim and Chunk & Dunk Philippines’ Lester Lim

The Philippine ambassador for Chunk & Dunk, Chevy Lim, was also introduced during the opening.

Chevy’s archery competition in Malaysia was the reason their family got a taste of Chunk & Dunk croffles and decided to bring it here to the Philippines.

The first Chunk & Dunk branch in the Philippines is located at 3F, Eastwood Mall in Quezon City.
