Due to the efforts and swift action of Marikina Mayor Maan Teodoro, residents of Barangay Tumana will no longer have to spend Christmas without water supply.

Mayor Teodoro personally went to the Manila Water Marikina Service Area office with P15 million to pay part of Barangay Tumana’s debt.
The debt of Barangay Tumana ballooned to P37,192,199.98 after Barangay Captain Akiko Centeno failed to remit the residents’ payments to Manila Water.
Because of this, Manila Water was forced to cut off the water supply in the area, which alarmed Mayor Teodoro.
In response, she expedited the passage of an ordinance in the Sangguniang Panlungsod allocating P15 million as payment to immediately restore the barangay’s water supply.
After making the payment to Manila Water, Teodoro requested the company to promptly restore the water supply to the 13 common points in the barangay.
Mayor Teodoro and Marikina 1st District Rep. Marcy Teodoro personally witnessed the restoration of water supply in the area.
She also vowed to hold accountable those responsible for the water supply cutoff.
“May mananagot, at sisiguruhin nating hindi na ito mauulit. At malinaw po ito: hindi ko papayagan na ang mga taga-Tumana ang magdusa dahil sa pagkukulang ng iilan,” she said.
