From being dubbed as the “Suklay Diva” back in 2015 and now having her major concert at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati on April 13, 2024.

“My last concert was before the pandemic, December 2019. It has been four years and hinahanap ng katawan ko ‘yung ganitong excitement, ‘yung ganitong kalaking production na show. Right now, I’m so happy and looking forward to working with our amazing artists – Khimo Gumatay, Sam Mangubat, Reiven Umali and JM Yosures, kasi sobrang dali nilang ka-trabaho. Gustong-gusto ko ‘yung eagerness nila,” Katrina shares about her upcoming Katrina is the Zcon concert.

FROM SUKLAY DIVA TO GEN Z DIVA

Maraming nagtataka bakit Z concert, bakit Gen Z ang mina-market namin, it’s because parang napansin ko nowadays, parang ‘yung niche or ‘yung fans ko is mga Gen Zs. Sila talaga ‘yung mas malaking percentage na nagsu-suporta sakin ngayon.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE KATRINA IS THE ZCON CONCERT

For this one, I’m so hands on. I’m using my own team. Our musical director is Teddy Katigbak, siya ang gumagawa ng mga arrangements ko sa mga covers ko and sa mga ibang contents ko sa social media, sa YouTube. Siya ang kinuha ko as my musical director. Nagco-collaborate kami sa mga inputs na gagawin namin for the concert.

About KATRINA VELARDE:

Katrina Velarde was dubbed as the “Asia’s Vocal Supreme,” starting her singing career at the young age of seven in “Amaturista.” She was also part of the “New Born Divas” which was part of Talentadong Pinoy’s Hall of Famer. She later on auditioned as a solo singer in “The X Factor Philippines” in 2012 and became part of A.K.A Jam, a group mentored by Gary Valenciano. 

She reached viral fame as the Suklay Diva, when she covered Beyonce’s “Dangerously In Love” with the use of a plastic comb as her microphone. The viral video got international recognition from music industry celebrities like Chris Brown and Beyonce’s musical director Bibi McGill.

Her talent has brought her to different countries including Hong Kong, California and New Jersery. And she is well known for covering hits of international divas and local singing idols. She is currently a guest hurado in Tawag ng Tanghalan sa It’s Showtime.
