From cafe to helping a community, Embrace Organization celebrates 7th anniversary

“What started as a cafe with employees with disabilities, makikita ninyo na ‘yung nagse-serve sa inyo nagsa-sign language. Natatanging advocacy of providing employment for the PWD. That by itself is something na hahangaan natin,” Ali Sotto shares in an interview during the 7th Anniversary of Embrace Organization.

The love and care for persons with disabilities (PWDs) are at the center of celebrations to mark the 7th anniversary of Embrace Organization for Differently Abled Inc. From film screenings to fun booths, from workshops to job fairs and art exhibits, Embrace continues to move forward in its drive to foster awareness, appreciation, and celebration of individuals with disabilities. The activities will be held at the EVM Convention Center in Central Avenue, Quezon City on March 18-20, 2024.

“Talagang ang vision po ng Embrace [is] to make a loving and caring world for the differently abled. Naka-focus po kami doon. Sa awa at tulong ng Panginoong Diyos, ay napakarami na po nating natutulungan dahil sa proyektong ito,” shares Embrace Chairperson Ms. True Santos-Matias. (The vision of Embrace is to make a loving and caring world for the differently abled. We are focused on that goal. With the love and help of the Almighty God, we have helped a lot of people through this initiative.)

The three-day commemoration under the theme ‘A Different Cinema: Celebrating Persons with Disability through Films’ features film screenings, a bazaar, fun booths, seminars, a job fair, and an art exhibit. The bazaar aims to support small and medium enterprises owned by PWDs, providing them with a platform to showcase their creations. The art exhibit will feature the works of PWDs through the NEU Special Education Program. There will also be Sign Language Awareness sessions conducted by the Christian Society for the Deaf (CSD).

Satellite services of the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) in Quezon City will be made available for PWD Application IDs and Renewals, as well as workshops and seminars on Disability Sensitivity, and the Rights and Privileges of PWDs.

Several non-government organizations (NGOs) have been invited to join the organization in raising awareness and appreciation for PWDs.

Above all, this event aims to highlight the assistance provided by the Church of Christ Iglesia Ni Cristo through Embrace, to our fellowmen with disabilities, granting them opportunities, celebrating their identity, and fostering their integration into progress.
