Newest Telebabad romcom series ‘Owe My Love’ adapted for the new normal

Announced pre-pandemic last February 2020, GMA Public Affairs’ newest telebabad series Owe My Love had some changes to its story, but it actually made the series more timely and relevant.

“Timely na siya last year because our show will teach our Kapuso financial literacy. All the more now that’s important and nailagay ‘yung current situation natin in this story. Maraming tweaks, maraming nag-iba pero ‘yung puso ng show nandun pa din. Sa pilot airing pa lang po namin, kiligin sila, matuwa sila at may mapulot silang aral,” lead actor Benjamin Alves explains.

Owe My Love is the story of Sensen (Lovi Poe), a financial illiterate and a miserly but successful doctor Migs (Benjamin Alves) whose lives unexpectedly intertwine because of the economic impact of the pandemic.

In a series of unfortunate events – from paying off her father’s gambling debts to shouldering her youngest sibling’s hospital bills – Sensen becomes financially indebted to Migs.

As part of their business deal, Sensen agrees to become the caregiver of Migs’ senile grandfather Lolo Badong whose middle-stage dementia leads him to believe that Sensen and Migs are married.

For some reason, Sensen’s presence delays the symptoms of the disease attacking Lolo Badong’s brain. In order to keep his grandfather happy, Migs asks Sensen to keep up the pretense of their relationship while she works off her debt. In the process, Sensen and Migs fall in love, but their relationship is challenged by Migs’ gold-digging stepmother Divina and his scheming and greedy childhood admirer Trixie.

Unknown to Sensen and Migs however, the same person who brought them together — Lolo Badong — harbors a dark family secret that could potentially tear them apart.

The series stars Lovi Poe, Benjamin Alves, Winwyn Marquez, Ruby Rodriguez, Mahal, Jackie Lou Blanco, Divine Tetay, Pekto, Jason Francisco, Jelai Andres, Jon Gutierrez, Kiray Celis, Buboy Villar, Joaquin Manansala, John Vic de Guzman with Ms. Aiai delas Alas, Leo Martinez and Ms. Nova Villa.

Owe My Love is directed by Rember Gelera and Ray Gibraltar, and penned by head writer Volta Delos Santos, based on the original concept from Joseph Conrad Rubio. The Public Affairs production team is led by Program Managers Rubio and Karen Lumbo, with Executive Producer Lowell Alojado.

The series will premiere February 15, 2020, 9:35PM, replacing the re-run of My Korean Jagiya.

Viewers abroad can also watch Owe My Love via GMA’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV. For the program guide, visit www.gmapinoytv.com.
