It was revealed during the media conference for TV5’s newest sitcom John En Ellen that the show was John Estrada’s idea, and he is one of the producers of the show. So he had a say with the creatives and the cast of the show.
But what does John and Ellen’s impressions and thoughts when they learned they’re going to work with each other?
“I knew that it was going to be fun kasi ini-stalk ko siya (John) when I found out, so I went to Instagram and parang he’s a fun guy and I knew it was going to be fun,” Ellen shares.
“Ako, I’m a follower of Maria Elena Adarna sa IG, ano? And I’m proud to say that I’m one of her fans ever since. Definitely, we all know she’s controversial and all that, but there’s more to her than that. She’s so bubbly, she has a very good soul and I’m glad, kahit kailan man matapos ‘tong John En Ellen, I’m just glad that I met this beautiful human being. She brings great energy on the set, she’s a character, she speaks her mind, she’s honest, and kung meron man kayong “bad image” about Ellen Adarna, itapon niyo na po ‘yan dahil hindi siya ‘yan,” Ellen co-star John Estrada shares.

John En Ellen is top-billed by John Estrada and Ellen Adarna, who will portray the show’s titular couple. The show follows the story of John Lennon Kulantong (John Estrada) and his wife Ellen Kulantong (Ellen Adarna), who beat the odds together and live out their promise to stay together “through thick and thin” despite the countless obstacles they have to deal with as a couple.
Viewers will surely relate to the adventures of the Kulantong Family and will be reminded that family bonds can give the emotional support that everyone needs.
Completing the show’s powerhouse cast are veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez as Don Lucky dela Suerte, Ellen’s big shot father who disapproves of John for his daughter; Long Mejia as Ynigo Tange, Don Lucky’s mischievous chief assistant; Haiza Madrid as Mimi, Don Lucky’s trusted nurse; and former child actor Yogo Singh and recording artist Angelina Cruz as John and Ellen’s children Valentino Kulantong and Camille Kulantong.
This show will be Ellen Adarna’s comeback project after an almost three-year hiatus. The show will also spotlight a new side of Ellen as she will be portraying a motherly role. For John Estrada, long known for his versatility as an actor, this sitcom would take him back to his comedy roots, but this time taking on a more mature role that closely resembles his current real life persona as a husband and devoted family man.
