Julie Anne San Jose Goes Back to Her Roots in ‘Julie Sings the Divas’ Concert

It was in 2005 when now Asia’s Pop Sweetheart Julie Anne San Jose was discovered via QTV 11’s (now GMA News TV) singing competition show Popstar Kids. She was not the grand winner but fate brought her to bigger venues and a bigger career path.

Singing the theme songs of various GMA Network shows like Dyesebel, being a main stay in variety shows like Party Pilipinas, Sunday Pinasaya, Studio 7 and acting in her own teleseryes like My Guitar Princess, singer, performer, host and endorser Julie Anne San Jose definitely stands out when it comes to talent.

But it’s time that she goes back to her roots, singing the songs of divas like she did when she entered showbusiness. Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, their songs are what made Julie Anne San Jose who she is right now. That’s why musical director Danny Tan and director and producer Louie Ignacio wanted to make Julie Sings the Divas possible.

So, finally we decided, kami ni direk Louie na diva songs. We’re going to showcase Julie Anne singing the songs of Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand, Mariah Carey, Tina Turner, Christina Aguilera and mga bago like Pink,” musical director Danny Tan shares.

“And then, maraming pasabog si direk Louie sa show, visuals and then ang maganda dito kasi, for Julie Anne, matikman niya na makapag-concert siya with an orchestra, and then we have the UP Concert Chorus, 18-piece na voices with four back-up singers. So, musically busog na busog. Musically, you will be well-fed,” direk Danny Tan continues.

For direk Louie Ignacio, he describes Julie Anne as “nag-iisang diva ng GMA ngayon.” So she should be taken care of and given projects like concerts.

But this time, it’s all singing. I’m gonna be singing 22 songs,” Julie Anne shares.

But with all those diva singers or songs, which one is the most challenging?

“All by Myself by Celine Dion. And there’s another song, first time siya sa pandinig ko. It’s called Adagio by Lara Fabian, mejo classical and pop-ish.
