To prevent the coastal area from becoming more deteriorated, the Philippines has several approaches, including creating a network of marine protected areas. One of them is the San Vicente Mangrove Forest and Marine Protected Area in Palawan, where the community is committed to safeguarding and restoring the mangrove area for 25 years since 1999, and extended to 12 more years.
