Valentine’s Day book-giving initiative spearheaded by Virgilio Almario now on its 3rd year 

The Valentine's Day book donation drive initiated by National Artist for Literature Virgilio S. Almario is now in its third year! In 2026, Almario dubbed the campaign "Aklat ng Pagmamahal" ("Book of Love"). Local publishers and Filipino writers have come together to bequeath books to the Quezon City Public Library and its branches located at the city's 34 barangays, as well as to the libraries being built for the persons-deprived-of-liberty of the Quezon City Jail. 

Poets’ organization founded by Virgilio Almario marks 40 years, celebrates Emilio Jacinto’s 150th birthday 

Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika at Anyo (LIRA), the organization of poets who write in Filipino founded by National Artist Virgilio Almario, is marking its 40th anniversary on December 15, 2025, the date of the 150th birthday of Emilio Jacinto. The celebration kicks off with a wreath-laying ceremony at Jacinto's tomb in Himlayang Pilipino in Quezon City at 8 am. Senator Loren Legarda will lead in the tribute to the revolutionary leader and writer also known as "Pingkian."
