EMPOY Marquez steps into one of his most heartfelt roles yet in “Batang Paco” — a family comedy that proves love — especially a parent’s love — can transform even the most unlikely man into a hero.

In this movie, Empoy plays Paco, a soft-spoken, fearful tattoo artist whose quiet life is shattered when his child is kidnapped.
With nothing but love fueling his motivations, Paco is forced to face danger head-on — not because he wants to be brave, but because his child believes he already is.
“Hindi bayani si Paco sa simula. Pero kapag anak mo na ang usapan, may lalabas na lakas na hindi mo alam na meron ka,” Empoy shares. “Ito ‘yung klaseng tatay na maraming Pilipino ang makakarelate.”
Anchoring Paco’s emotional journey is Cassy Lavarias, who delivers a touching performance as his child — the reason behind every risk, every sacrifice, and every impossible choice Paco makes.
Cassy brings sincerity and warmth that ground the film’s larger-than-life action into something deeply relatable.
“Pakiramdam ko, ligtas ako kahit ano ang mangyari, dahil mahal ako ng tatay ko,” says Cassy. “‘Yun ang pinaka-strong na power sa movie.”
Together, Empoy and Cassy create a moving portrait of a father and child bound by unconditional love — one that pushes them to overcome fear, danger, and doubt.
Producer Ana Abiera, a former actress turned businesswoman, sums it up simply:
“Empoy and Cassy remind us that real heroes are forged by love — and on screen, every moment is touching and unforgettable.”
Blending humor, thrills, and heart, “Batang Paco” is ultimately a story about love that refuses to give up — and a father who becomes extraordinary because his child never stopped believing in him.
“Batang Paco” is the maiden offering of MiVida Productions, and it opens in mainstream cinemas nationwide starting February 18.
