Judy Ann Santos is the newest brand ambassador of Kyowa, shares how her relationship with food changed

For everyone’s information, we know Judy Ann Santos is an award-winning and box-office queen, but not everyone knows that she’s also a chef and restaurateur who co-owns AngryAdobo.

This is probably the very reason why Kyowa Philippines got Judy Ann as their brand ambassador. Because she not only has credibility in the entertainment industry but also in the culinary industry as well.

During the Q&A portion of her contract signing with Kyowa, we asked Judy Ann what was the first dish she cooked and how her relationship with food has changed since she became a chef.

“The first dish I cooked when I was, probably 10 or 11 years old, was sopas. Kasi favorite comfort food ko ang sopas up until now. Kapag may sakit ako or puyat ako from work or may hangover ako, kasi at 47 kapag uminom ka ng dalawang basong wine, kinabukasan may hangover ka na. Hindi ko na itatago sa inyo ‘yun, ‘wag na tayo magpakaplastik. When I learned how to make sopas, nung nag-culinary na ako, natuto na ako mag-explore. So, there are times that I would put curry powder in my sopas, I would put cheese, I would put clams, so parang naging seafood chowder na siya at some point. Parang I love creating a blank space, using sopas as my canvas, nung nag-culinary na ako, kasi looking back, it makes me happy when I eat sopas. It just makes sense that I can actually play around with sopas. Do you know you can actually put pesto sauce in sopas? Oo, pwede pala! May hangover o wala,” Judy Ann jokes.

“So, nung nag-culinary ako, it just made me appreciate more and mas na-realize ko na, yes, I do really love cooking so much kasi looking back with my younger days when I’m so tired from my work, kapag burnout ako sa work and ang daming chismis sa buhay, I go on a news blackout, I see myself in the kitchen cooking from 6PM to 6AM, nasa kusina lang ako. Dun ako natuto magluto sa rice cooker, dun ako natuto mag-explore ng kung ano ano, kasi I don’t want to be seen, I just want to be busy. Gusto ko ma-busy ang utak ko, hindi showbusiness ang iniisip ko. So, with all these, I turned to cooking. And it would always make me happy at the end of the day na I can face them already, because I have proven to myself na pwede ako maging hindi artista someday. I can actually do something else when no one wants to get me anymore. I can still make something out for a living na pinag-aralan ko. So, I’m very, very proud of the things that I make. They’re maybe just comfort food, but these are the things, everything they will eat from Angry Adobo, they came from my heart,” Judy Ann continues.

When multi-awarded actress Judy Ann Santos steps into the kitchen, it’s not just about cooking—it’s about creating moments. Whether she’s preparing breakfast before school, whipping up snacks for her kids, or hosting family dinners on weekends, every meal is an act of love. For someone who pours her heart into every dish, trust in the tools she uses matters just as much as the ingredients themselves.

Now, Judy Ann has found a partner that shares her passion for home, family, and good food in Kyowa, the well-loved and trusted Filipino brand known for reliable, high-quality kitchen and home appliances.

KYOWA AND JUDY ANN’S SHARED LOVE FOR HOME

For more than 38 years, Kyowa has been part of countless Filipino homes, known for appliances that combine function, durability, and affordability. From its iconic rice cooker seen in so many kitchens to the innovative airfryer, the iconic rice cooker, electric kettle, gas stove, and electric oven, Kyowa has quietly become the brand families depend on.

“I’ve always believed that the kitchen is the heart of every home,” Judy Ann shares. “It’s where families gather, share stories, and bond over food. When I look for kitchen appliances, I look for ones that make life not only easier but more importantly, ones that I can rely on.”

That sense of reliability, Judy Ann says, is exactly what she found in Kyowa: “It’s not just about having a product that works well, it’s knowing that every time I turn on the stove or use the rice cooker, it will do what I need it to do. Tiwala ako sa may K.”

COOKING MADE SIMPLER, MADE BETTER

Known for her culinary creativity both at home and as a restaurateur, Judy Ann has tried and tested her fair share of appliances. What made Kyowa stand out for her is the brand’s thoughtful balance between practicality and performance.

“When I use the Kyowa Airfryer, I can easily make snacks my kids love without the guilt of deep frying,” she says with a laugh. “Or when I prepare my Black Polvoron Halo-Halo, the Kyowa Ice Shaver helps me achieve that perfect, fine ice texture. These small details matter when you love being in the kitchen.”

For Judy Ann, Kyowa is synonymous with reliability —a brand that has grown seamlessly with Filipino families over the years. From classic kitchens to contemporary homes, Kyowa continues to evolve alongside the modern homemaker, offering practical innovations that make everyday living simpler, smarter, and more fulfilling

Kyowa’s new campaign slogan, “Tiwala ako sa may K, reflects what the brand has stood for over the years: trust, dependability, and everyday excellence.

These three words perfectly embody Judy Ann, a woman whose life, career, and values mirror the same ideals. With her decades in the industry, she has earned admiration not just for her success, but for her sincerity and dedication, both as a professional actress, a businesswoman and a homemaker.

“Having Judy Ann join the Kyowa family is something we’re truly proud of,” says Eugene Go, Chief Operating Officer of Kyowa. “She reflects everything that Kyowa stands for: hard work, warmth, and reliability. With her stellar achievements, she is someone Filipinos look up to and yet she remains grounded. That’s exactly the kind of trust we aim to build with every product we make.”

With Judy Ann at the forefront, Kyowa aims to continue empowering Filipino families to cook, create, and connect without the stress or worry. The brand’s wide range of products is designed to make home life easier and more fulfilling.

In Judy Ann’s own home, she says, “At the end of the day, it’s not just about cooking. It’s about the people you cook for. Kyowa helps me make that possible, because when it comes to trust and family, tiwala ako sa may K–Kyowa!”
