It’s not every day that you hear or read about a male actor being conscious of his appearance, let alone launching a skincare brand as his business venture. But Christian Bables is not like any other male actor. He’s a multi-awarded, versatile television and movie actor who has worked with acclaimed filmmakers like Jun Robles Lana and Chito S. Rono.

During the launch of Wildskyn, where Bables faces the audience as the CEO, he presented the product as if it were a story of how he realized he needed to take care of his own skin.

“Wildskyn was born from something very personal. A journey of healing, growth and reclaiming self-confidence, not just physically, but emotionally. As someone who has also gone through skin struggles and insecurities, I wanted to create a brand that is not just about products, but about purpose. Wildskyn is for every person who has looked in the mirror and wished to feel a little more confident, a little more whole. When I started in this journey, I was stepping into something really new. I spent most of my life as an actor, someone who interprets stories and gives life to characters that reflect human truth. But stepping into entrepreneurship, itong pagne-negosyo, was a different kind of performance, one that required me to learn to stumble and to rise again. I was jumping between my work as an actor and someone trying to understand the world of business. And if I’m being honest, my story, my own insecurities, became the very reason why I started Wildskyn.”

It was a business born out of insecurities at first, but as Christian poured more heart into creating Wildskyn, it became a passion to better oneself in the journey of excellence in whatever career or life goals you have. Whether we admit it or not, looking better makes us feel better inside and out.

When asked how Christian feels now that Wildskyn is out, “Ganito pala ‘yung feeling ng nanganganak. Ganito pala ‘yung pakiramdam.” Christian laughs. “But, kidding aside, ang sarap sa pakiramdam kasi this is four years in the making and finally, I felt na ready na i-present ang Wildskyn sa mga tao,” Christian continues.

Is this the reason why we haven’t been seeing Christian on the small and big screen lately?

“Yes. Nag-focus talaaga ako sa pag-build ng brand and nag-usap kami ng manager ko na hindi ako makaka-focus kapag tumanggap ako ng projects. So, finally ngayon, feeling ko makakabalik na ako.”
