“Nape-pressure na ako.” This is Kristine Hermosa-Sotto’s answer when asked what she feels when everybody in the industry praises her timeless beauty.
A symbol of glow and beauty, Kristine isn’t that active in showbiz anymore, but she does make appearances every now and then. Still, whenever the topic is about the most beautiful artists in the industry, her name always pops up.
“Nape-pressure na ako kasi tumatanda na ako. Parang bawal tumanda, bawal magka-wrinkles, pero I’m really flattered. Thank God for that glow,” Kristine shares.
During the opening of the second Skinlandia branch, located in Viceroy Tower, McKinley, Taguig City, we had the opportunity to speak with Kristine and Jess Martinez, stars of GMA Prime’s ‘Sanggang Dikit.’ Kristine was asked to be the guest star for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Skinlandia, McKinley, through her mother-in-law, Ms. Dina Bonnevie.

Aren’t Kristine and husband Oyo Boy Sotto discussing her return to doing teleseryes?
“Wala naman talaga problema kay Oyo, ako ang umaayaw. Sa totoo, gusto ko talaga, nami-miss ko talaga. Pero ‘yung demands kasi ng teleserye, may anim akong anak, may asawa ako, so hindi na siya ‘yung parang tulad ng dati na anytime, tawagin nila ako in the middle of the night, pwede nila akong hatakin. Things like that, ‘yung may kailangang i-shoot. Hindi ko ‘yung mako-commit talaga. Kung merong mga sitcoms, okay, kasi medyo magaan,” Kristine elaborates.
House of D
“Nakaka-miss po talaga. Ang sarap ng feeling, na-miss ko mag hair and makeup kasi I grew up doing this. With the family pa and I can be myself, di ko kailangang umiyak,” Kristine jokes.
Working with her mother-in-law, Ms. D
With the Filipino culture, having your mother-in-law not on your side, how did Kristine and Ms. Dina make it work?
“Hindi naman maiiwasan na minsan, may conflict, minsan may tampuhan pero wala eh, kapag nasa center si God, maaayos at maaayos din. Kumbaga, walang samaan ng loob,” Kristine shares.
Did Kristine and Ms. Dina have misunderstandings before?
“Nung nagsisimula, oo, meron din, pero kumbaga lahat naman ‘yun naayos. And naayos naman lahat ni God,” Kristine answers.
Jess on having the second branch of Skinlandia as their franchisee
“It’s beyond gratefulness, this time I feel so blessed kasi last year, I was only an ambassador, but now, my mom, she franchised. Sobra ang blessings, tuloy-tuloy talaga. Not only in this field, but also in my career in acting. Kasi last year, nung ininterview ako (Jess’ media launch), wala pa akong show pero ngayon, naka-five (projects) na ako with GMA,” Jess Martinez shares.
When asked what her reaction was to having Kristine Hermosa-Sotto as the guest star in the ribbon-cutting ceremony of her first Skinlandia franchise store, Jess excitedly answers, “nanginginig nga po ako eh. Malamig ‘yung kamay ko ngayon. Idol po kita, isang karangalan (Jess looking at Kristine). Sobrang saya na siya talaga.”
Kristine chips in as she’s observing Jess, “ang sarap maging bata no? Tinitignan ko siya, sabi ko wow!”
Kristine and Jess on staying beautiful
“Ang sa akin lang na talagang pilit kong kailangan na nandyan is to have peace sa puso, kumbaga, when God is there kasi, you’ll have joy, you’ll have contentment, you’ll have peace, so kahit medyo may challenges, kapag nandyan si God sa buhay mo, you’ll always go back to him. Siya ‘yung anchor ko, ‘yun lang talaga,” Kristine shares.
“Kasi happy ako na I’m surrounded with people that are happy and uplifts me. And like I said before, hindi kasi ako nagpapa-apekto sa mga negativity kasi I always focus on myself and sa mga taong nagpapasaya sa akin. ‘Yun siguro that’s why it radiates on me,” Jess answers.
What treatment in Skinlandia is Jess’ favorite?
“Siguro ‘yung hydro facial kasi para ma-hydrate ang face kasi parating pagod sa taping.”
“Tatandaan ko ‘yang hydro facial,” Kristine adds.
