There’s a new kid in the music industry, Jeri, and he just released his maiden song as a recording artist under ABS-CBN’s Tarsier Records titled ‘Gusto Kita.’

Composed and produced by award-winning Vehnee Saturno, ‘Gusto Kita’ is a straightforward love song for the young and young at heart. It is now playing on various radio stations like WishFM 107.5, Energy 106.7, Star FM, and WinFM 91.5. ‘Gusto Kita’ is also being heard in radio stations across Visayas and Mindanao.

Jeri. Having just one word for a name is quite a trend these days, what made him choose to carry just his first name?

“Actually, nung nag-present ako, when I went to ABS-CBN, si sir Roxy (Liquigan) ang pumili ng Jeri. Sabi niya na, ‘ah, catchy ito. Easy ‘yung recall and kakaiba kasi wala pang Jeri.’ So that’s the reason why I’m now Jeri.”

Multi-awarded songwriter Vehnee Saturno mentioned that Jeri was helpful with his input in the song that he wrote for him. What are those inputs?

“Marami, maraming inputs na ginawa sila and working with the arrangement with Jeri, maganda. Sabi ko, ‘sige, gawin natin ‘yung what makes you think best for the song’ kasi alam naman natin ngayon, ang market is bagets. Kailangan mag-adjust tayo para at least ma-achieve natin ‘yung tunog na hinahanap ng mga bata. Happy naman ako the way they tweaked the song – may mga additional melody, additional lyrics. I’m happy we were able to come up with a good song.”

Talking about his newest single ‘Gusto Kita,’ does he believe that “gusto” or liking” will always lead to love?

“For me, when you think of gusto, marami ‘yung levels. It can be an attraction, it can be an infatuation. I think, throughout time makikita mo lang kung made-develop siya to love. Kasi kapag infatuation, parang magiging flustered ka pero kapag love, everyday iniisip mo siya, everyday hinahanap mo siya. So, depende sa time and depende kung mag-develop siya over time.”

‘Gusto Kita’ is currently being used as bed music in a popular segment on the afternoon show ‘It’s Showtime.’

Jeri has been making the rounds of live guesting. Last November 7 at The Palacios in San Pablo, Laguna, he was a guest performer at Nonoy Zuniga’s show. He also participated as a guest performer at Bo Cerudo’s 35th anniversary concert at Teatrino on November 15.
